Our University Heights neighborhood is vibrant, and diverse in its population and many other respects. While attractions such as our theaters, restaurants, and shops, the University of New Mexico (UNM), and Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) draw Albuquerque residents from around the city, our dynamic neighborhood brings special concerns when it comes to creating an engaged community.
Our neighborhood is comprised of 2354 residents, 67% who are between the ages of 18 to 35, many of whom are students both undergraduate and graduate. 91% are renters. There are also over 50 businesses in our neighborhood, including 25 restaurants.
The University Heights Association (UHA) is a volunteer neighborhood organization in the city of Albuquerque made up of people living, owning property, and working in the area bounded by Central Avenue on the North, Yale Blvd on the West, Garfield Avenue on the South, and Girard Blvd on the East.
In addition to our annual meeting, regular activities have included spring and fall neighborhood cleanup days, a block party, periodic newsletters and informational flyers, crime prevention activities, and zoning issues.
For more information about the neighborhood association, visit the UHA website.
